All parts of the Graviola tree are traditionally used in
natural medicines in the tropics. Graviola bark, leaves, roots, fruit and even the fruit seeds are believed to be
beneficial so nothing is wasted. Different properties and uses are attributed to the different parts of the Graviola
tree. The whole Graviola or Graviola fruit juice is used for worms and parasites, to cool fevers, to increase
production of mother's milk after childbirth (lactagogue), and for diarrhea or dysentery. Crushed Graviola seeds are
used as a vermifuge and anthelmintic against internal and external parasites. The Graviola tree bark, leaves and roots
are considered sedative, antispasmodic, hypotensive and nervine and a tea is commonly made for various disorders
for those purposes.
